A poem from my ❤

"It's just a dog" is what they say
"I don't see why you're blue".
But "just a dog" will never be applicable to you.

To us you were our guardian who slept beside our bed.
A fluffy, loving confidant who licked the tears we shed.

You loved us all and gave us joy so many different ways.
And now you're gone we just don't know how we can fill our days.

We have such happy memories from spending time with you.
And that is why your passing has broke all our hearts in two.

We watched the sun go up and down together every day.
You were always at your happiest whenever we would play.

Eleven years, that's all we had. It doesn't seem enough.
We knew that we would miss you. But wow, this is too tough.

A hundred times a day we think we hear your doggy snore.
Our hearts break every time we walk in through that empty door.

The second that we saw you, we knew we were choosing you.
And now you're gone, we truly hope that you'd have picked us too.

They say you get dogs you deserve and how I hope that's true.
Because we must have done things right if our reward was you.

So, if you think it's "just a dog", you'll change your point of view.
You'll do it when you meet the dog who gives their heart to you.
