It’s funny how things just line up perfectly sometimes…
I’d already been rolling some thoughts around in my brain for this post. I even knew the title because the song popped into my head during the…’process’ (haha, let’s call it that 😉).
I’m not sure why but, seconds before I started this, I decided to check if today is a national day of something (it seems most days are!).
Turns out, it’s actually a very busy day. The list includes; National Cheesesteak Day, National Cocktails Day and even National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day!?
I’m not going to list all of them because there’s a lot going on today! It was these two I was interested in:
I initially discounted the first one. I read the word “Achievers” and assumed it was just another day for professionals or famous names to slap themselves (and each other) on the back. That big club that none of us get invites to…
Whereas, each person is a person of worth…surely that goes without saying? It’s not like we need to put aside a day for celebrating that….
But, funnily enough, that’s kinda what I’d come here to do today! Well sort of. I wasn’t going to proclaim a special day or anything. Nothing fancy like that.
I’d been trying to figure out how to try something new with my blog and was going to come here for suggestions and your input.
A community type of thing where we can promote each other’s blogs once a week or something along those lines….
Tuesday Treasures maybe…I dunno, probably not that…Treats on a Tuesday?….I might not even do it on a Tuesday! Let’s not get hung up on the name for now!
But, more than that, I just wanted to create a space for us to appreciate each other. Somewhere you can blow your own trumpets triumphantly to an appreciative audience.
At the very least, to support each other if the biggest achievement that day was getting out of bed.
Things that, as it turns out, are somehow relevant to these two “Days” today…
First, let’s take a closer look at the description of both from https://www.daysoftheyear.com/):
International Day for Achievers invites people to slow down and notice progress, not just perfection. It is a day for recognizing the visible wins that earn applause and the quieter victories that often pass without comment, like steady effort, resilience, and follow-through.
National Each Person is A Person of Worth Day champions a heartfelt idea: everyone is valuable just as they are.
This day celebrates the truth that human worth doesn’t hinge on achievements, wealth, or status but is an innate quality shared by all. Emphasizing worth as a birthright rather than something to earn, this day invites everyone to recognize and celebrate the dignity inherent in all people.
At first glance, the two things seemed mutually exclusive.
If human worth doesn’t “hinge on achievements” what’s the point in celebrating them at all?
But maybe, it depends on your interpretation of that word. What it means to you. The dictionary defines it as:
achievement
noun
plural noun: achievements
a thing done successfully with effort, skill, or courage.
Even that’s a little problematic though. Again, it depends on your definition of things like effort, skill and courage.
So maybe, that was my problem initially….the wording. Or rather, how I interpreted it.
Probably, I’d have been more drawn to it if it was called something like “International Celebrating Small Victories Day”. (What is wrong with me today? Why do I keep trying to name things!?)
After all, reading more about it, at it’s core that’s basically what it boils down to.
When I look at it like that I see that both “days” are actually more mutually harmonious than exclusive.
It’s possible to celebrate each other’s (and our own) achievements from a place of equal worth. One doesn’t have to cancel out the other. Or take anything away.
Maybe, there’s a lesson in there somewhere..I’m not sure, I’m getting hungry, it’s hard to concentrate!
In conclusion, (I think I’m getting to one) I’d like to wish you a happy International Day for Achievers and National Each Person is A Person of Worth Day fellow Citizens!

International Day for Achievers can be celebrated in simple, practical ways. The goal is not to force a big event but to create genuine moments of appreciation and reflection that people will actually remember and want to repeat.
Celebrating National Each Person is A Person of Worth Day is all about lifting spirits and spreading kindness.
Basically, what I was coming here to try to do in the first place! Not something reserved for one day of the year. Something we can all do any day….every day.
So, here goes…my chance to praise you like I should…
Because without you, the reader, what would be the point of me doing this in the first place?
