The Generation X Files

Phew! Those last couple of posts have been a bit more serious than I was expecting them to be!

I sat down at the laptop and started writing about Wonder Woman and it turned into a history lesson about the real-life Braveheart!

It’s my own fault for ignoring the ‘Search Engine Optimized’ post titles. And choosing to go with musically inspired ones instead.

It’s because music brings my brain ‘to heel’ temporarily. I start my posts with an idea, but I need a focus to try to bring it all together. Relating it to a song or album helps me to do that.

I’ve got lots of topics I want to write about….but my creativity is a little like the tap in our kitchen sink. It’s quite old, seizes up in the cold and takes a minute to get going. But…..put a spoon in the flow at the wrong angle and I’ll soak myself…. and most of the kitchen!

That’s just me. I can be…..a bit too much. It’s exhausting sometimes. I need an off switch. Or at the very least a mute button 🔇

You might not realise this but you, by reading this are doing a small (but important service). My other half gets to have a break while I’m writing these… I’m actually quiet! Well, quieter. 😉

Oof….I’ve just done that thing I hate again. I sat here for five minutes trying to decide how to title my boyfriend (and best friend) of 16 years. It’s because none of the words or phrases are….well big enough.

Boyfriend sounds like we’re younger. Although we do still give each other Teenage Kicks! 😈😎

Partner is too formal. Like we’re in business together or something. We’re far too silly together for that! 💼

How do you sum up with a single word someone who is the yin to my yang? The man who after 22 years of listening to my rambling thoughts is still too kind to tell me to just stfu sometimes? Jeez, I would! I do!

I try to reign it in but I get too animated. I think it’s because when I share my tales, I want whoever is listening to picture all the details. I am back in that moment and I want to bring that person with me.

I also just really like people. I listen as much as I talk and that’s another reason I started to blog. To have some interesting conversations. Some have already begun and that’s amazing 👊 Thank you.

And thanks to my mum and my partner in crime (? nope don’t like that either) for listening to me before you got here!

Ooh! I’ve got it! BFBFF! My best friend boyfriend forever 💘

On second thoughts, I might just leave it to Sonny and Cher!
